Custom Horse Barns
The original horse barn restored and the design are from
horse barns and horse facilities built in the Sacramento area
from the 1800's. Boarding stables features gabled roof,
antique stained glass imported from England and brick isle
ways. The Historic Nelson Ranch home is on the
National Register of Historic Places est. 1868.

Horse Stables include stalls for horses that are 12 x 12 or
13 x 13 with or without runs and include 1.5" rubber mats.
Horse stalls have automatic waterer's. The brick provides
traction for horses and can be wet down during hot summer
days to cool barns.

Horse boarding barns were positioned to catch the delta
breeze at night. Horse stables include a fly spray system and
fans are available in the summer and stall lights to keep
horses coats down are available in the winter months.
Horse Barns have individual
tack rooms for riders & grain
rooms for horses
supplements and additional
horse feed and grain.
Borders get their own large
tack closet to safely store
their horses saddles, riding
equipment and tack in.

At the Historic Nelson Ranch, horses and
boarding are our specialty and priority.  Horses
are feed twice daily at 7 am and 5 p.m. We only
buy top quality hay. We offer your choice and
combination of alfalfa, alfalfa/grass, rye or 3 oat
mix.  We purchase quality hay from local growers
for the entire year, so horses have a consistent
diet. Grain areas are available for safe storage of
grain and supplements. We offer custom feeding
programs tailored to your horses needs.
The Historic Nelson Ranch offers 5 large horse
back riding arenas.  All horse back riding arenas
have sandy loom footing, which means no mud!
The large outdoor arena is set up with return
alleys and holding areas.  The footing is
excellent in this arena and is heat engineered to
prevent packing, soft and allows horses to break
over properly.  The show jumping horse arena is
has firmer sand footing.  The large indoor has
an all purpose sand footing.  There is a trail
arena. There is a CD / I-pod system for borders
to play music while they ride their horses.  There
is a smaller 200 X 150 warm up arena for horses
and 2 - 50' round pens with sand footing.  There
is easy access to riding  trails along Cache
Creek in the County of Yolo that extend into
Sacramento County.
