The Historic Nelson Ranch Offers World Class Trainers
The Historic Nelson Ranch is located in the heart of  Woodland's agricultural area. It is a harmonious estate with a historic park like setting.
The original Yolo County ranch house was built in 1868 and the property is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The property has a rich Yolo county history with the original owner  having over 3,000 acres of land. This land and estate was donated to UC
Davis. The family holdings once included Nelson's Grove, Best Ranch and other famous Yolo County Landmarks.

Today the Historic Nelson Ranch is once again a cattle ranch. The Yolo County Fair held its livestock show
at the location in 2006, while their facility was being upgraded.

The Historic Nelson Ranch horse training facilites offers top notch English and western lessons and
trainers for the rider and horse in the Sacramento area. You have the opportunity to ride and learn from
champion horse trainers offering personalized  training, tailored to the experience levels of the horse or
rider. Students learn to build trust and respond to their horses. Trainers offer horses for weekly lessons.  
From schooling to rated shows.  HNR prides itself on providing a friendly welcoming environment where
horses and riders progress.  

The trainers at the Historic Nelson Ranch are respected horsemen women.  From starting the horses off
in a positive manner that will help the horse gain confidence and excel in the ring to training and lessons
designed to instill confidence, correctness that carries over to help the riders progress in the show ring.

The Historic Nelson Ranch offers one of the nicest horse boarding stables, stalls and horse training in the Sacramento area with horse
shows and events.  We are close to Davis.  We are proud to offer AQHA - American Quarter Horse Association and APHA American Paint
Horse Association shows and events.  The Historic Nelson Ranch also offers Clinicians from around the world have been here. Including
world champion's J.D. Yates, Les Vogt, Mike Beers, Rick Rersacchi, Walt Woodard & Lise Von Uhlit.
We have 5 arenas, stalls, paddocks and turnout areas.  

Boarding rates start at $195 a month for self care and increase for full service horse boarding, horse training or riding lessons
